THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL YOGA FESTIVAL – SERBIA 2013
The Fourth International Yoga Festival – Serbia 2013, that was opened by the Ambassador of India in Belgrade, Mrs. Narinder Chauhan and Prof. Predrag Nikić, PhD, president of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, took place on August 31 - September 1, 2013 in Belgrade's Ada, organized by the Yoga Federation of Serbia and International Yoga Academy, under the auspices of the International, European and American Yoga Federation.
On this occasion, Prof. Predrag Nikić, PhD gave the Letter of Appreciation to Zoran Zec, PhD, translator of the Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, for his contribution in yoga, and to Prof. Dušanu Pajin, PhD and Dr. Branka Novaković-Petrović for successfull work in the International Yoga Academy, in 2013.
At the International Yoga Festival in Belgrade, there met Yoga Masters and Yoga Instructors from the world and from Serbia and they represented different styles and approaches to the yoga practice. In the spirit of recognition, understanding and respect for differences, many yoga schools represented their activities.

The Third International Yoga Festival – Serbia 2012
The Third International Yoga Festival – Serbia 2012 took place at Ada lake in Belgrade, Serbia, on September 1-2, 2012 with auspices of the International Yoga Federation.
Yoga Masters and Yoga Instructors from the whole world met at the International YOGA FESTIVAL in Belgrade and presented different stiles and approaches to the Yoga practice. In the spirit of recognition, understanding and respect for differences of many Yoga schools, they presented their activities.
The Third International Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Conference
The Third International Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Conference “Yoga in Science – Future and Perspectives” took place in the Congress Center Sava, in Belgrade, Serbia
under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia and International Yoga Federation on August 30-31, 2012.
At the conference, scientific papers from different fields were presented, as well as the results of the research that will be published in the International Scientific Yoga Journal Sense, in December 2012.
During this conference, the representatives of the four largest scientific-educational yoga institutions in the world visited Serbia for the first time. The occasion for this visit was cooperation that was made official by signing the Agreement of Cooperation with the International Society for Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Research, International Yoga Academy from Belgrade and Yoga Federation of Serbia.
The guests of Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD were Dr. Shirley Telles from the Patanjali Institute in India, Dr. Manjunath Sharma from the University Vivekananda in India, Shri Subodh Tiwari from the Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute in India and Prof. Ganesh Shankar from the University Sagar in India.
International Academy for Yoga Teachers Education
International Yoga Academy has been founded on the initiative of the Yoga Federation of Serbia that provides all logistical support in professional stuff, information and material resources in the work of Academy.
Yoga Teachers Education at the International Yoga Academy has been carried out for years under professional guidance of Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD – International Yoga Master, University professor, International Advisor in the European Yoga Council of the International Yoga Federation, member of International Yoga Federation Assembly and president of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, and according to the international yoga standards. Scientific Council of the Academy gathers the greatest authorities in yoga.
At the end of studies at the International Yoga Academy, certified instructors receive internationally recognized diploma, possibility of obtaining license for work as the yoga instructors, possibility of joining the workshop for yoga instructors aimed to continual education of yoga instructors and possibility of membership in the Yoga Federation of Serbia.
Students of the Academy have possibility to study scientific and professional literature about yoga and possibility to participate in scientific researches of the effects of yoga practice. All students of the Academy have possibility to directly participate in scientific-research activities of the International Society for Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Research as well as approach to the scientific literature about yoga.
Education of candidates for Yoga Instructors includes 200 lessons and it lasts for 8 months.
Students go through the training that includes introducing to: yoga psychology, yoga philosophy, yoga anatomy and physiology, yoga theory and yoga practice. Students go through the phases of assistance, demonstration and giving the yoga classes under the mentoring guidance of Yoga Master. As part of the curriculum, there are planned 2 colloquia and one seminar per subject. After the training, students have to pass the final exam with a demonstration of graduate class in front of a commission made of three members.
Future instructors are enabled to participate at the International Interdisciplinary Scientific Yoga Conference organized by the Yoga Federation of Serbia and the International Society for Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Research in Belgrade, in Congress Center Sava, every year on August.
Future instructors are enabled to participate at the International Yoga Festival organized by the Yoga Federation of Serbia and the International Society for Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Research that takes place in Belgrade, on August. The aim of the Festival is also to make possible for citizens of Serbia to meet with different school and styles present in the other countries.
Future instructors have opportunity of further professional development by participating in the International Summer Yoga Camp under professional guidance of Prof. PhD Predrag Nikic, organized by the Yoga Federation of Serbia and the International Academy for Yoga Teachers Education that takes place every year in Serbia or abroad.
Practical classes involve studying of asanas, kriya techniques, pranayama, pratjahara, Djana, Dharana, mantra, mudra, bandha, kirtan...
Students learn how to perform asanas; how to breath properly in position, how to recognize the strategic place of attention and what influence asana realizes, relying on the old resources of Vedas, Upanishads, Geranda Samhita, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the experience of the Rishikesh Academy system and experience of the Master Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD.
In the International Academy for Yoga Teachers Education, students study Hatha Yoga and other styles of yoga: Tantra, Raja, Bhakti, Nada,
Svara, Art Yoga Similiris and Jnana Yoga.
The candidate (student) is entitled for the final examination (graduation) when he/she submits the following documents:
- confirmation that he/she regularly attended classes during the school,
- confirmation of the passed examinations, colloquia and positive grades at the seminars,
- confirmation that they conducted 5 pre-examination public classes under the supervision of senior instructor (certificate must be signed separately by each senior instructor, certifying that the candidate fulfills the quality condition in the yoga class conduction).
The final exam is taken before the three members Commission. The candidate defends thesis orally (approximate volume of thesis is up to 60 pages); presents independent yoga class conduction by demonstrating asanas practice; practice of the meditation, pranayama, mudra and bandha techniques; he/she need to express maturity and satisfactory answers to the questions posed by members of the Commission.

The training lasts eight months + preparation for the final exam.
Upon completion of training and final exam, the candidate receives a certificate that allows him/her to work as the Yoga Instructor. The certificate is recognized in other countries. Certificate enables Yoga Instructor to become a member of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, to engage in work of the workshops for yoga instructors (designed for continual education of yoga instructors) and the right to apply for license.
